She’s wiped your tears, your food encrusted face and potentially your street cred (embarrassing nicknames in public anyone?), but how on earth do you show your mum just how grateful you are? Whether she likes a lazy Sunday in her PJs or a bit of weekend glam, here’s some inspiration to help make this Mother’s Day extra special.
Breakfast in bed
The secret to the perfect breakfast in bed is NOT to wake her up with it! Mute that 7am alarm/younger sibling/pet that needs feeding and get her favourite brekkie treats ready along with some fresh flowers, a new book or maybe her favourite bubble bath. Then let her lounge around in her PJs whilst you wait on her hand and foot.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
If she’s not a fan of a lie in why not treat her to breakfast out? You could find a local farm shop café or go all out and treat her to a bottomless brunch. Nothing says glam like bubbles with breakfast.
Reading this in a lockdown world? Try ordering a takeaway brunch for your mum. Not only will it help local businesses, it'll be the perfect surprise on her special day.
If she’s happy to stay in her PJs all day, why not create a spa at home? Face-packs, nail polishes and box sets at the ready. Throw in a healthy spa-style lunch (or order-in if cooking’s not your forte).
If your mum’s trying to juggle working full-time with running a household, she might just appreciate a helping hand and some time for herself. Why not create a book of chore tokens for her to redeem whenever she likes, then tell her you’ve got today’s chores sorted and let her enjoy some much needed me-time?
Out & about
Not one for sitting around? Try planning a surprise activity for her. Keep your ear to the ground in the run up to Mother’s Day. Is there a film she wants to see, a new walk she wants to try or a restaurant she’s been dying to sample? Sharing the day doing something you know she’ll love is the perfect gift.
